RICARDO POMMER
Chilean painter, born in Valparaíso in 1958, where he spent his first years of life, until his youth.
He began studying Fine Arts in Viña del Mar (Chile). Later he came to visit the land of his paternal family in Asturias and decided to stay and live permanently in Spain.
Most of his work was developed during his stay on the island of Ibiza, which became his home for a long period of his life and also the ideal platform to publicize his artistic work in Spain and rest of Europe.
His career as an artist has been consolidating little by little but with firm steps. His paintings have evolved from the almost obsessive perfection of drawing in his early works, to a much looser and more courageous brushstroke technique, in which movement and color take center stage in his latest artistic creations.
The best-known theme of his paintings are animals, specifically powerful animals such as elephants, horses, bulls... through which he conveys the emotions that inspire the artist such as strength, courage, nobility. .
Specifically, his paintings of bulls are particularly interesting, a recurring theme in his latest works, as a universal symbol of life, strength and power that has been represented since the origins of humanity, already existing in cave paintings such as the Aurochs or wild bull. , in ancient Egypt as a cult animal representing the god of fertility and abundance, in all Mediterranean and Celtic cultures as a cult animal, up to the present day.
Undoubtedly, the image of the Bull has always had a strong visual impact as a symbol of nobility, courage, indomitable character and beauty of this powerful animal.
Currently the artist resides in the Province of Alicante and in his last stage, he has also made some paintings inspired by music. His paintings are usually large, made with a mixed technique, of which he is a great connoisseur due to his long history of artistic learning. He has extensive experience in art exhibitions both in Spain and in the Netherlands, France and Chile... among other countries.
