 DOMINGO ALVAREZ

Spanish artist born in Barcelona in 1942.

His interest in art arose already in his childhood, which led him to attend night classes in a private academy while he attended school during the day. With only 15 years he began in the world of illustration publishing abroad, especially in the British market, for which he draws war and romantic comics in the magazines of Fleetway and DC Thomson publishers during the 1960s, such as Marilyn, Valentine, Roxy, Mirabelle and Commando.

He also collaborates in Spain, continuing the Delta 99 and Gringo series. For the North American market, he drew several horror cartoons during the first half of the 70s, which were published in the Psycho, Nightmare and Scream magazines of Skywald publishing house.2

Over time, his work was focused on the illustration of book covers and magazines for Great Britain and Scandinavia, with which his technique is refined becoming an accomplished artist.

As of 1974, he is increasingly interested in artistic painting, with a preference for oil and pastel techniques, attends classes at the Sant Lluch Artistic Circle and in 1975 confirms his exclusive dedication to painting, exhibiting for the first time in the gallery Almirall of Barcelona.

His style is realistic figurative and touches various themes, but focuses mainly on the female figure and landscapes, with a light reminiscent of teachers like Sorolla.

He is currently working from his studio in Cubellas, Barcelona.

He has exhibited in practically all the best galleries in Spain and, abroad we mention some of his exhibitions:
